RSCDS SHEFFIELD BRANCH DIAMOND JUBILEE  The Third Sheaf Collection
For this CD (as for the Leeds Golden Collection in 2014) the band line-up is Neil Barron (lead accordion), Alasdair MacLeod (2 nd  accordion), Marie Fielding (fiddle), Dennis Morrison (piano), Gordon Smith (drums), and Bill Craib (double bass). There are 12 tracks for the dances from The Third Sheaf Collection book (available for sale separately) in the same order as the book, i.e alphabetical, which means that the CD starts with 2 strathspeys followed by 3 reels, and also finishes with a strathspey. There are two jigs and two medleys and three of the reels are 8 x 40 bars, with the remaining dances being 3, 4, 5 or 8 x 32 bars in length. There are a large number of traditional tunes, 4 of Neil’s own tunes, several by Angus Fitchet and a range of other well-known composers are represented here.
