Beyond the Borders
The   second   CD   from   the   Dewhurst   family   band   (Chris   &   Julie   on   accordion   with   Nick   on   drums)   is almost   an   extension   of   their   first      CD      (Crossing      Borders   released      in   2008   and   also   available here)   with   about   a   third   of      the      tracks   for      use   when   ‘any   good      tune’   is   required      but   with   the addition   of   four   tracks   for   well-known      dances      and      four      for      new      dances      by      Gillian      Jennings (2 of which are already published in her Catherine de Barnes Collections). Probably   the   most   recognised   track   is   Seton’s   Ceilidh   Band   where   the   band   has   paired   the   lead tune   with   an   arrangement      of      76      Trombones      and      Blaze     Away.      The      other   ‘known’   dances      are     The   Black,   Black   Oil,   The   Wee   Cooper   o’   Fife   and   Singing   Sands   and   for   these   last   two   Chris composed all the secondary tunes. In fact Chris composed no less than 22 of the tunes on this CD.
