Ochtertyre is an alternative form of Auchtertyre, derived from uachdar (upper) and tiridh (land). This is a tiny
settlement, quite easy to miss, just north of the A85, halfway between Comrie and Crieff.
The small hamlet of Amulree, located close to the geographical centre of Scotland, is one of the oldest cattle
tyrsts in the country and is located on the A822 at the northern end of the Sma’ Glen, 14 miles north of Crieff.
