THE PARIS CELEBRATION MEDLEY M-5x(S32+R32) Bill Zobel Strathspey  1- 4 All set, 1M+2M & 4L+5L NHJ dance between 1L+2L/4M+5M & cast into partner’s place while partners dance across set & curve towards each other into partner’s place  5- 8 1s & 5s turn LH twice moving down/up set to finish facing 1 st  corners while 2s & 4s cross RH & cast up/down one place    9-12 1s & 5s set to 1 st  corner & face partner across (2 bars of H-G setting), turn partner RH to face 2 nd  corner 13-16 1s & 5s set to 2 nd  corner & face partner up/down (2 bars of H-G setting), turn partner RH to finish in centre, 1s facing down, 5s facing up ready for … 17-20 1s+3s+5s dance 6H round finishing on sidelines 21-24 1s+3s+5s turn RH, 1s+3s finish ready for poussette, 5s finish in 4 th   place 25-28 1s+3s dance ½ poussette, 5s dance in on bar 28 29-32  1s+5s dance ½ poussette Finish in order 2 3 5 1 4 Reel time in new positions 1-24 Repeat bars 1-24, on bar 24, 1s+3s+5s finish in centre ready for poussette 25-32 1s+3s+5s dance 3 couple poussette Notes: The movement into the circle at the end of bar 16 should be anticipated. As each couple reach the top for their second repition, they will dance to the other rhythm. The dance can be performed as a 3-couple dance (obviously omitting 4 th  & 5 th   couples’ movements) and with the following changes to bars 15 - 24: 15-16 1s turn partner RH to finish in centre facing up  17-20 1s+2s set & dance 4H ½ way round finishing on sidelines 21-24 1s+2s turn RH 1½ times to ready for poussette In reel time, on bars 17-20 an option is to set to right only then 6 slip steps. 3s step in on bar 24.
This   dance   was   devised   by   Bill   Zobel   for   the   25 th    Anniversary   of   the   Paris   Branch   RSCDS   and   introduced   at   the Anniversary Ball in Paris on 8 th  May 2010 ( link to YouTube video ). Muriel Johnstone composed the tunes “My Beautiful Landrieau” and “The Magnum Hornpipe”.
