This   dance   was   devised   by   Dr.   Denise   Peet   of   the   Washington   DC   Branch   and   Liz   Donaldson   composed   “The   Gypsy Weaver”   tune.   This   has   been   recorded   on   the   CD   More   Memories   of   Scottish   Weekend,   but   if   this   is   not   available then a slow air or other light and lifting strathspey is recommended.
GYPSY WEAVER  (S8x32) Denise Peet  Between the Rivers  1- 2 1s+3s dance RSh ¾ around partners (Gypsy turn) to finish in line up/down centre, L facing down, M facing up  3- 6 1s+3s dance ½ reel of 4  7- 8 1s+3s dance RSh ¾ around partners (Gypsy turn) to finish on own sides 3 2 1  9-12 2s+1s Set&Link  3 1 2 13-16 3s+1s Set&Link (1L & 3M remain facing out)  1 3 2 17-19 ½ Reels of 3 on sides with 1s+3s passing RSh to begin (3 bars), 1L remains facing out at the bottom  2 3 1 20-24 1L followed by partner, casts up round 3L and across set, 1L pulls LSh back to turn partner LH & finish facing 1 st  corners (3s step down on bars 23-24) 25-32 1s dance Corners Pass and Turn (corners turning 2H & 1s passing RSh throughout), finishing in 2 nd  place own sides Notes: After 2 nd  repetition, 4s begin from 4 th  place, dancing up slightly as they pass RSh round each other while 1s step down.
