It was suggested that this dance is named after the Hotel im Girardet Haus in Essen, Germany, which hosts many
Scottish country dances. However, the dedication reads:
For Svenja who was my partner when this dance was first tried. For Susanne who was my partner when this
dance first appeared on the EMO ball programme 2007.
Girardet House is a disused printing works in Essen, which has now been turned into a shopping centre. It
has an Irish pub where the EMO dancers go after their training sessions.
