The Pinewoods Reel was written for Pinewoods Scottish Sessions by John Bowie Dickson and is danced during each
session’s Highland Ball.
Pinewoods is a traditional dance and music camp located in a beautiful 25-acre pine and beech forest between
Long Pond and Round Pond in Plymouth, Massachusetts. There are four large dance pavilions, comfortable rustic
cabins and houses, two clear-water lakes for swimming and boating, an open-sided Dining Hall with beautiful
views over the water, and a Camphouse for various gatherings.
Dance and music sessions are held at Pinewoods during the summer season from mid-June until early September.
Each session is held by one of four Program Providers, non-profit organizations which teach and promote
traditional music, dance and song, with Scottish sessions provided by RSCDS Boston Branch, who were the first
RSCDS Branch to be established outside the UK in 1950..
