MR IAIN STUART ROBERTSON (R8x32) Barbara deWinton  RSCDS Book 42  1- 2 1s set advancing  3- 4 1s turn 2H, opening out to face down whilst 2s dance up to 1 st  place and face up  5- 8 1s giving nearer hand to 2s, 1s+2s set, 1s turn 2s on sides with nearer hand 9-16 1s followed by 2s (who dance up to follow) dance down for 3 bars, 1s dance to top as 2s divide & follow, 1s cast to 2 nd  place & 2s to top & face out 17-24 2s+1s+3s dance reflection reels of 3 on sides (1s in & down to start, all joining hands where possible) 2s & 3s ending with a loop 25-32 1s dance ½ reels of 3 across (Lady with 2s & Man with 3s), 1s dance ½ reels of 3 across (Man with 2s & Lady with 3s)
Iain Stuart Robertson, the musician, taught the devisor of this dance, Barbara de Winton, to dance. Barbara is currently (2010-11) one of the 3 teachers at Bristol RSCDS Branch. Iain Robertson (1920-1999) devised four dances himself and composed at least 14 tunes, including 3 of the 4 tunes recommended for The Robertson Rant (devised in 1949 by Mrs Douglas Winchester nee Robertson for her family), the 4 th  tune being the traditional tune, Struan Robertson’s Rant, from northern England.
