Iain Stuart Robertson, the musician, taught the devisor of this dance, Barbara de Winton, to dance. Barbara is currently (2010-11) one of the 3 teachers at Bristol RSCDS Branch. Iain Robertson (1920-1999) devised four dances himself and composed at least 14 tunes, including 3 of the 4 tunes recommended for The Robertson Rant (devised in 1949 by Mrs Douglas Winchester nee Robertson for her family), the 4th tune being the traditional tune, Struan Robertson’s Rant, from northern England.
