Ardgilzean is the name of a farm 3½ miles due west of Elgin, Morayshire.
In Macbeth, he says: “We shall hunt the woods of Findrassie and Ardgilzean, and see what you Orkneymen can do
lacking a hatchet …!”
Spynie Parish Church (IV30 6XI), which was built in 1735, is situated
between Findrassie and Argilzean.
In Perth & Kinross, due north of Scone Palace, there is a mound (marked as
a cairn on the OS map south west of Ardgilzean Cottage), a Roman
enclosure and a ring-ditch all listed as ancient monuments.
